International Center for Equity in Health (ICEH)

The International Center for Equity in Health (ICEH) at UFPel is dedicated to monitoring health inequality indicators across more than 200 countries. It conducts comprehensive analyses of data from national health surveys in developing countries, generating a series of indicators related to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). These indicators are stratified based on key variables essential for analyzing health equity.

The information produced by the ICEH is widely utilized in academic research and international health initiative reports. Additionally, this data is incorporated into a global repository maintained by the World Health Organization (WHO), which is freely accessible to the public.

In addition to its analytical work, the ICEH is committed to training analysts in Latin America, the Caribbean, and Sub-Saharan Africa, enhancing local capabilities in monitoring and addressing health inequalities. As a WHO Collaborating Center for Equity in Health, the ICEH plays a crucial role in advancing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, focusing on reducing disparities in health access for women, newborns, children, and adolescents, considering factors such as gender, ethnicity, geographic location, and income.
